Kalends customs

A sword is carried around the perimeter of the home.

Masks are worn.

Games are played.

Jokes are told.

Songs are sung.

Favorite poems are recited.

A panspermia porridge is made for the Ancestors and House Spirits.

Walk throughout the home beating a drum and ringing a bell to drive out negative energies and influences.

Sweep the threshold.

Salt and leaves are thrown into a fire, saying ‘So much health, so much wealth and so much happiness bring to me and mine!’

At midnight everyone eats honeycomb or something sweet and says, ‘Joy and gladness be in this house, now and for the year to come!’
